For Liberty University students · CSER approved

A church home for Liberty University students.

New Wine Church is 5.5 miles from campus, non-denominational and apostolic in identity, and an approved CSER partner. Both lead pastors are Liberty alumni. If you're looking for a Spirit-filled church home where your service hours actually mean something, we'd love to have you.

Built for Liberty students

Why LU students end up at New Wine.

Every fall, students arrive at Liberty from every state in the country with a real hunger for Jesus and one very practical question: Where do I go to church? Convocation and Campus Church shape your week, but many students look for something more — a home congregation off campus where they can serve, be prayed for, and connect with families outside the student bubble.

New Wine Church is that home for a growing number of Liberty students. We're non-denominational and apostolic — biblically rigorous teaching paired with genuine room for the Holy Spirit. If you grew up in a Spirit-filled tradition and don't want to lose that expression in college, or if you've been sitting in cessationist Baptist services asking whether there might be more, this is the lane we're actually in.

Both our lead pastors — Haniel and Carmen Singh — are LU alumni. Haniel holds a Master's in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty; Carmen holds the same plus a Master of Arts in Human Services with a focus in Executive Leadership. When you come to New Wine, you're not walking into a church that's suspicious of Liberty — you're walking into a church whose leadership graduated from Liberty and loves it.

Ready to log your CSER hours with us?

Fill out our Serve form and mention CSER in the message. We'll respond within 24–48 hours to schedule a quick 15-minute conversation, walk you through the background check (for kids ministry) if that's your fit, and get you plugged in the following Sunday.

Your first Sunday

What to expect when you visit.

Sunday service is at 10:30 AM. Doors open at 10:00 for coffee. Come in whatever you'd wear to class — jeans, hoodies, and t-shirts are all normal. There's no dress code and no expectation.

Worship runs for about 30 minutes, followed by teaching that's usually 40–50 minutes long. Sermons are Word-driven with real space for prayer and response at the end. If you've been to Convocation, imagine that — but smaller, more intimate, and with more room for the Holy Spirit.

After service, our welcome team hangs around at the back for questions, prayer, or just conversation. Tell them it's your first time and that you're an LU student — we'll make sure you meet a few people before you leave.

LU student FAQs

Questions we hear from LU students.

Is New Wine Church officially connected to Liberty University?

Yes. Both our lead pastors, Haniel and Carmen Singh, are Liberty University graduates — Haniel holds a Master's in Theology and Apologetics from LU, and Carmen holds a Master of Arts in Human Services with a focus in Executive Leadership. We're also an approved CSER (Christian Service) site for LU students. We're a separate congregation from Thomas Road Baptist, but our roots run through Liberty in real, credential-backed ways.

Can I earn CSER hours at New Wine Church?

Yes — New Wine is an approved CSER partner for Liberty University students. You can serve in kids ministry, worship team, production and A/V, hospitality and first-impressions, prayer ministry, or youth ministry, and log the hours toward your Christian Service requirement. Email office@newwine.io or fill out the Serve form and mention CSER, and our team will walk you through the process.

How far is New Wine Church from Liberty University?

About 5.5 miles — roughly a 10-15 minute drive depending on traffic and which side of campus you're leaving from. We're at 3135 Fort Ave, across from Lynchburg City Stadium. Free parking, no dress code, kids ministry during the 10:30 AM Sunday service.

What service opportunities count for CSER at New Wine?

Sunday morning teams (kids ministry, hospitality, worship, production, prayer), youth ministry on weeknights, midweek events, community outreach, and specific project-based service days throughout the semester. If you have a specific gifting — video, music, teaching, event planning — we can usually find a place to plug you in where the hours are meaningful, not just filler.

Do I need to be a member to serve or attend?

Not at all. Come on any Sunday, sit wherever, take your time. Fill out a welcome card if you want us to follow up. If you want to serve for CSER or just because, we'll set up a brief conversation to help you find the right team.

I'm from out of state and don't know anyone at NWC. How do I get connected?

Come on a Sunday — arrive around 10:15 for coffee, stand at the welcome desk, tell them it's your first time. We keep an eye out for new faces, especially students. You can also DM us on Instagram (@newwinevirginia) or email office@newwine.io and we'll connect you with a student in our community before you visit.

We can't wait to meet you.

Come on a Sunday, DM us on Instagram, or fill out the Serve form to log CSER hours. Whichever way you reach out — we'll make sure you know you have a place here.
